This is an invitation to the Christening of a baby boy, we decided to do fine and soft invitation but we did not wanted it lose the masculine approach. I love the fact that is made clear by the delicacy and details that it is the celebration of Baptism, without the need for religious images.

We used some as invitations and also left some blank on the inside, so it can also be used as personal stationery for the baby. It is a 1 color embossed job on linen card stock.

Esta es la invitación para el bautizo de un bebé, se trabajó un concepto delicado y suave pero que siguiera siendo masculino. Me encanta que se de a entender por la delicadeza que se trata de una celebración de Bautizo, sin tener la necesidad de utilizar imágenes religiosas.

También se dejaron algunas en blanco por adentro, para que sirviera de papelería personal para el bebé.

Es un trabajo a 1 color de tinta en lino y se termino con realce.

I'm a big fan of antique furniture and decorative accessories and that love has led me to collect all sorts of things. So I'm always looking for inspiration when deciding on renewing some of my pieces as I did with my French headboard, my typewriters, and my sewing table. (I promise to post photos soon) This post shows 2 different renewals of furniture (not antique) but old and I loved that in both projects you can clearly see the difference that changing the color can make.

Soy una fanática de todo lo que sean muebles y accesorios de decoración antiguos y ese amor me ha llevado a coleccionar todo tipo de cosas. Asi que siempre estoy buscando inspiración para cuando decida renovar alguna de mis piezas, ya lo hice con mi cabecera francesa, mis maquinas de escribir, y mi mesa de coser. (Prometo subir fotos pronto)
Pues éste post enseña 2 diferentes renovaciones de muebles (no son antiguos) pero si viejos, que son 2 cosas muy distintas, y me encantó en ambos proyectos la diferencia que puede ocasionar el cambiar el color y trabajar bajo un concepto en donde el mismo mueble va a lucirse.

Color is something that has always inspired me, indeed there have been times that I can only think of certain colors. Lately, my eye has steadily been going to super strong saturated and vivid colors, in short any shade of NEON. I love it in decorating accents, fashion accessories, clothes and even on paper as art or personalized stationery.

We created this identity for a company specialized in the manufacture andsublimation (printing and transferring) of sportswear. We based our concept on the four color printing process, to emphasize on the method used in their type of work.
Their corporate stationery was printed on linen paper with a 4 color work, finished with a shiny black foil for their logo, which was also embossed.
Creamos esta identidad para una compañía especializada en la fabricación y sublimación (impresión y transferencia) de ropa deportiva. Basamos nuestro concepto en el proceso de impresión de cuatro colores, para acentuar el método usado en el tipo de trabajo que realizan.
Su papelería corporativa fue impreso en papel de lino con un proceso de 4 colores, acabado con foil negro brillante para su insignia, que también luego también fue realzado.

The theme for this celebration, was a Mexican fiesta. From the food to the decor everything was very colorful, cheerful and full of life. Personally I'm a fan of Mexican art and folklore, I was inspired by one of the mexican elements I like the most, "papel picado". The shredded paper is used in all sorts of celebrations, from weddings, christenings and birthdays to fairs and holidays.
We designed a single of paper cut and use as a central point in the invitation, it was printed in bright red and was then embossed. The text was printed in lime green, which is vibrant and has a lot of life and then finished with thermography, so it would also have its own texture.
The envelope was orange card stock and ran to the middle of the invitation to emphasize the shredded paper as a focal point.

El tema para esta celebración, era una fiesta mexicana. Desde la comida hasta la decoración todo sería muy colorido, alegre y lleno de vida. Personalmente soy fan del arte y folklore mexicano, así que me inspire en uno de los elementos mexicanos que más me gusta, el papel picado. El papel picado se utiliza en todo tipo de celebración, desde bodas, bautizos y cumpleaños hasta ferias y días festivos.
Se diseño una hoja de papel picado en grande la cual se imprimió en un rojo vivo y se realzó. El texto se imprimió en verde limón, que es un verde que tiene mucha vida y vibración y se termino con termografia, para que también tuviera su propia textura.
El sobre se hizo en cartulina naranja y llegaba hasta la mitad de la invitación para darle énfasis al papel picado y así poder apreciarlo.

In Guatemala, invitations are something many people overlook or do not put much detail. There are others who just want to get them out of the away and prefer to copy invitations that have already been used, while there are people that do see and understand the importance of making an event special from the beginning. When those customers come to us, we are happy and thrilled to share the excitement of creating and designing something special and appropriate to set the right tone to their event.

This invitation was one of those times!! We worked on a simple and elegant yet warm and inviting concept. From the material choice to the paper, the envelope lining, the fonts, the combination of sizes and the foil finish, the invitation became the perfect tone setter for a wedding full of details, such as this wedding.

En Guatemala la cultura de poner detalle a las invitaciones es algo que muchas personas pasan por alto. Hay otras que solo quieren salir del paso y prefieren copiar alguna ya hecha, mientras que hay personas que si ven la importancia de hacer un evento especial desde el principio. Y cuando esos clientes vienen a nosotros, somos felices porque compartimos la emoción de crear y diseñar algo especialmente para crear las expectativas adecuadas de su evento.
Esta invitación fue uno de esos momentos y trabajamos un concepto sobrio y elegante pero a la vez cálido y acogedor. Ya que por medio de la elección de materiales desde el papel, el forro, el tipo de letra, la combinación de tamaños y el acabado se llega a un conjunto de elementos que vuelven la invitación la expectativa perfecta para una boda llena de detalles, como lo fue esta boda.

The inspiration behind the design of these invitations was the favorite flower of the bride, which is the sunflower. Based on that, the concept of the party was developed. The color scheme was white & black with accents in yellow.
The invitation was printed in 1 color on a linen stock, with the name of the bride embossed. A paper sunflower application was added at the end. The envelope was also on linen stock and the metallic lining had black lines printed on it.

La inspiración detrás del diseño de estas invitaciones fue la flor favorita de la novia, que es el girasol.
Basado en eso se llego al concepto de la fiesta, y la paleta de color era blanco, negro y acentos en amarillo.
La invitación fue impresa a 1 color de tinta sobre una cartulina de lino, con el nombre de la novia en realce. Se le agrego una aplicación que era un girasol de papel que tenía los pétalos en diferentes dimensiones. El sobre también era de cartulina de lino, y el forro metálico con impresión de lineas negras.

Hydrangea Wedding

The concept of this invitation was born from the passion of the bride for handwriting typography and also inspired by the design of the tablecloth used for the reception.

We used an elaborated font that we balanced with color and texture.

Instead of using the regular monogram, we used the flower as main element and it was printed in the lining of the envelope and blind embossed on the invitation.

El concepto de esta invitación nace de la pasión de la novia por el estilo letra de caligrafía y el diseño de mantelería que había seleccionado para la recepción.
Jugamos con tipografía un poco más cargada que lo normal y se balanceo con el color y la textura. En lugar de utilizar el monograma, se trabajo con la flor como elemento principal y se imprimió en el forro del sobre y se realzó sin tinta en la invitación.

Ivory Wedding

The design for this invitation was inspired by the combination of textures and materials. The outside of the invitation was made in an ivory metallic cardstock with the initials placed inside an invisible square and then embossed with a 3D technique.In which the square is in one dimension and the initials are in the next one. The paper inside is ivory linen cardstock with gray ink and finished with thermography.

The envelopes are made in an ivory colored linen cardstock with 3D embossed on the flap and lined with the same metallic paper used in the invitation.

El diseño para esta invitación fue inspirado en la combinación de texturas y materiales. La parte exterior de la invitación fue hecha en cartulina metálica color ivory y las iniciales estan colocadas adentro de un cuadrado invisible y luego realzadas con una técnica en 3D. En la cual el recuadro esta en una dimensión y las inciales estan en otra más arriba.
El papel interior es cartulina de lino color ivory con la impresión en tinta gris y acabada con termografía.
Los sobres estan hechos en cartulina de lino color ivory con el realze en 3D en la solapa y forrados con el papel metálico del mismo color que la invitación.

This invitation was designed to be sober and elegant. We chose a burgundy color because it is similar to the one that the Francisco Marroquín University uses.

Everything was printed on linen cardstock and the name of the graduate was also embossed. The envelopes were also made on linen cardstock and the lining was in a burgundy metallic paper.

Esta invitación fue diseñada de una manera sobria y elegante. Se escogió el color corinto ya que es el que utiliza la Universidad Francisco Marroquín.

Todo fue impreso en cartulina de lino y el nombre de la graduanda realzado. Los sobres también son de cartulina con el forro en un papel metálico en el mismo color corinto.

Brown & Orange Bar Mitzvah

This invitation comes from the idea of working on a classic and elegant concept an transform it into a modern and bold invitation maintaining its orginal style.

We use the orange and brown color, which share contrast and harmony simultaneously. The Star of David we used is delicate and we decided to embossed it aswell as the boy's name in both Spanish and Hebrew.

The envelope was lined with a shiny bright orange and an orange sticker with the Hebrew name of the boy embossed sealed the envelope.

Esta invitación nace de la idea de trabajar sobre un concepto clásico y elegante para convertirlo en un producto moderno y con personalidad manteniendo su estilo.

Utilizamos el color naranja y café, que tienen contraste y harmonia al mismo tiempo.

La estrella de David es delicada y decidimos realzarlo junto con el nombre del niño tanto en español como en hebreo.

Para el forro del sobre se utilizo un papel anaranjado brillante y se selló con una sticker en el mismo color naranja y el nombre en hebreo del niño en realce.

Corporate identity created for a well-known event and floral designer. Typographically we joined her 2 initials (the “P” and the “L”) to create a symbol with her own name.

The collateral design was designed based on the different colors that exist in the flowers and the life they have. Everything was printed on linen cardstock in full color and the logo was printed in fuchsia and finished with silver foil and embossed.

Identidad corporativa creada para una reconocida diseñadora de eventos y arreglos florales. El concepto consiste en crear un símbolo con su propio nombre. Tipográficamente se unen sus 2 iniciales la “P” y la “l” y conforman la P. El diseño colateral de la imagen gráfica estaba basada en los diferentes colores que existen en las flores y la vida que estos tienen. Se imprimieron en full color sobre cartulina de lino y el logo fue impreso en fucsia y terminado en foil plata y luego realzado.

Spanish inspired 80th Birthday

This invitation was inspired by the theme of the event, which was a Spanish celebration. Based on that, we came up with the concept of using patterns used on the tiles in southern Spain. We use the texture as a method to emphasize the design. The black pattern was finished in thermography, which makes it palpable without being as obvious as the red frame and the name of the birthday girl, which were embossed.

Esta invitación fue inspirada en el tema del evento, el cual era una celebración española. Basado en eso, llegamos al concepto de utilizar los patrones en los azulejos que se usan en el sur de España. Utilizamos la textura como un medio para enfatizar el diseño. El patrón en negro iba terminado con termografía lo cual la hace palpable sin ser tan obvia como el marco rojo y el nombre de la cumpleañera que se trabajaron en realce, lo cual les dio otra dimensión.

Life is a Journey

This design was created because the birthday girl wanted her cake simulating vintage suitcases and she also wanted her invitations to be like this ticket-style ones. After brainstorming for a bit we arrived at the concept to use simulated airline tickets. We tried to take a different approach and emphasize on something very important that is to celebrate the journey that is life itself and the experiences that are still to be lived. We created a kind of “logo” representing the birthday girl and her milestone birthday. The invitation was printed in 2 color inks, black and pink, on white shiny cardboard while the envelope was printed in black ink and fuchsia cardstock. Both were finished with thermography.

Este diseño nace porque la quinceañera quería que su pastel fuera en forma de maletas y además le quería que sus invitaciones también fueran estilo ticket (como estas). Después de pensar nace el concepto de simular boletos de avión, de una manera distinta y es celebrando el viaje que es la vida en sí y las experiencias que faltan por vivir.

Se creó un tipo de “logo” que representaba a la cumpleañera y su significativo cumpleaños. La invitación se imprimió en 2 colores, negro y fucsia, sobre cartulina metálica blanca mientras que el sobre solo en negro sobre cartulina fucsia. Ambos textos fueron terminados con termografía.

For these invitations, the only request we had was that it had to have purple. So we brainstormed and arrived at this concept. The flowers represent all the experiences that can be lived in 80 years, we worked with different shades as these represent the different experiences in one´s life. Some are more happy than others but at the end of the day there are all experiences. The “80 years” text was printed with mother pearl foil and then embossed, the rest of the invitation was printed in 1 color ink on white linen cardstock.

Para estas invitaciones el único requisito es que tenía que tener morado. Así que jugando con diferentes conceptos llegamos a éste. La flores representan todas las experiencias que se pueden tener en 80 años, se trabajo en diferentes tonos ya que estos representaban las diferentes vivencias. Algunas mas alegre que otras pero al final todas son experiencias.

El texto de “80 años” fue trabajado en foil nacarado con realce, el resto de la invitación impreso en 1 color de tinta sobre cartulina de lino blanco.

“Cuenteretes” is a company that specializes in get hold and distribute any items to perk up a party. Their products can be from personified hats to inflatable shoes and eyeglasses with lights. I loved working a concept so enthusiastic and joyful. Typography was used as the main element; a modern, clear and strong typeface was used. The element that enhances the logo is color, using a range of bright, vibrant colors that work in harmony. As a complementary element, the typical component of the celebrations, the party, was also used.

* I love the name "Cuenteretes" whichs is a guatemalan colloquialism refering to " a lot of colorful stuff"

“Cuenteretes” es una empresa especializada en conseguir y distribuir todo tipo de artículos para amenizar una fiesta. Desde sombreros personificados hasta zapatos inflables y anteojos con luces. Me encanto trabajar un concepto tan entusiasta y alegre. Se utiliza la tipografía como elemento principal, ésta es moderna, clara y con una presencia bastante fuerte. El elemento que la refuerza es el color, y se trabajó con una gama de colores alegres y vibrantes que trabajen en armonía. Como elemento complementario se coloca el típico y más asociado componente de las celebraciones, el sombrero de fiesta.

* Me encanta el nombre "Cuenteretes" ya que es un coloquialismo guatemalteco que se refiera a "objetos de muchos colores"

This invitation was designed for an Engagement Party. It was an event planned with so much love and detail that we try to make the invitation as special as the spectacular celebration. We worked on a modern yet elegant concept so we created a pattern that was blind embossed. The silver rectangle and the couple’s name were in foil and also embossed while the rest of the text was printed on ink silver and finished with thermography.

Esta invitación fue diseñada para la celebración de un compromiso. Fue un evento planeado con muchísimo amor y detalles. Así que tratamos de que la invitación fuera la carta de presentación de una celebración espectacular.

Se trabajó un concepto moderno pero muy elegante así que se hizo un patrón en realce sin tinta con un recuadro en foil y los nombres de los novios también en foil y realce, el resto del texto fue impreso en tinta plata y terminado con termografía.

This month like every other month, the desktop wallpaper was inspired by some of Guatemala and its culture. A country’s slang is one of the most representative aspects of its culture. “La Choca”; is the colloquialisms given to the coin of 25 cents, and this month I included something personal because I turn twenty-five and literally I reached “la choca”.

Este mes como todos los demás el wallpaper esta inspirado en algo de Guatemala o su cultura. El slang de un país es uno de los aspectos más representativos de su cultura. “La Choca” es el coloquialismo que se le da a la moneda de 25 centavos, y este mes lo hice un poco personal porque cumplo 25 años y así literalmente llegué a la choca.

This invitation was inspired by the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The envelope was made with a base in the shape of Mickey’s head and above a red flap representing Mickey’s pants and the big famous buttons were added to enphasize it.

The envelope was sewn and the invitation was inside.

Esta invitación fue inspirada en el Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. El sobre se hizo con una base con la forma de la cabeza de Mickey y encima una “pestaña” roja simulando los pantalones de Mickey a los cuales se le agregaron los famosos botones. El sobre fue cocido y en su interior estaba la invitación.

This is a company responsible for extracting oil from the African Palm. The identity we created was base on a modern concept reaching for a timeless look. That when the years pass on, the age of the logo will not be seen. It is a minimalist logo that reveals small details of the industry to which it belongs.

Esta es la identidad para una empresa encargada de extraer aceite de la Palma Africana. Se trabajo un concepto moderno, que aunque pasaran los años, estos no dejasen que se viera la edad del logotipo. Es un logotipo minimalista que con pequeños detalles deja ver la industria a la que pertenece.

The corporate stationery is high quality featuring different types of print finishes, which makes it unique in its style. The work was done in black and copper color foil application, since the oil that comes out of the palm, has a reddish color. Also embossed in 3 dimensions, the black part in a 2nd dimension and the parts in copper on a 3rd dimension. We used gray paper for the letterhead and envelopes and card stock for business cards.

Se creó una papelería de alta calidad que cuenta con diferentes tipos de acabado de impresión lo cual la hacen única en su estilo.
Se trabajo en color negro y aplicación de foil color cobre, ya que el aceite que sale de la palma africana, tiene un color rojizo. También se realzó en 3 dimensiones, la parte en negro en una 2da dimensión y las partes que están en cobre en una 3 dimensión.
Se utilizó papel gris para las hojas membreteadas y los sobres y cartulina para las tarjetas de presentación.

For March’s wallpaper we were inspired by something that is always very representative of each country, it’s their food. They can range from very elaborate dishes to certain fruits in syrup or just the way to eat a fruit. That’s why we chose to portray a very traditional eat, mango con “pepitoria”(pepitoria is the powder that results from roasting and mashing up the squash seeds). In Guatemala every year when the month of March comes, we are all waiting to see a street vendor selling mangoes, so we can go home and prepare them with salt, lime and pepitoria.

Para el wallpaper de marzo nos inspiramos en algo que siempre es muy representativo de cada país y es la comida. Pueden ser desde platos muy elaborados, hasta frutas en dulce o simplemente la manera de comerse una fruta. Es por eso que escogimos el mango con pepitoria. En Guatemala cada año que llega el mes de marzo estamos todos esperando encontrarnos al vendedor en la calle con mangos para poder llevarlos a casa y prepararlos con sal, limón y pepitoria.

This invitation was designed for a very special couple. These are the participations for the civil ceremony, which was a small celebration. The name of the bride and groom were raised and the information of the ceremony printed below. We decided to print the information only in the amount needed and leave a bunch blank to be used as personal stationery.

Esta invitación fue diseñada para una pareja muy especial. Son las invitaciones de la Ceremonia Civil, que no era muy grande. Así que utilizamos el concepto de invitaciones/stationery para poder tener un tiraje mayor y así lograr algo más especial con los acabados. El nombre de la novia y el novio estaban en relieve y la información de la ceremonia impresa abajo. La información fue impresa sólo para la cantidad que necesitábamos y el resto se imprimió sin texto, para ser utilizado como papelería personal.

The first freebie of the year has arrived. February is always associated with love and friendship. But many forget that Carnivals are celebrated on this month through out the world. A Carnival is a way of celebrating life and the good things you have. Those who have used my wallpapers before know that I love to emphasize the traditions or customs of Guatemala. This month is no exception, so I chose the “cascarones” which are empty eggshells filled with colorful confetti. It is a very peculiar and happy tradition. In earlier times it was believed that breaking “cascarones” over each others head, was a sign of affection, even very shy couples flirted that way. Now it is believed to bring luck and good fortune. I think we all have flashbacks of our childhood when we see them, so I find that celebration is a very good way to start the month.

Llegó el primer freebie del año. El mes de febrero es siempre asociado con el amor y la amistad. Pero muchos olvidamos que también se celebra el carnaval. Que es una manera de celebrar la vida y las cosas buenas que se tienen. A los que han usado mis wallpapers antes saben que me encanta enfatizar en las tradiciones o costumbres de Guatemala. Éste mes no es la excepción, así que por eso escogí los cascarones, lo cual es una tradición muy peculiar y alegre. When designing the identity of an organization or company we always research and explore in what they are specialized and in their work. This was a very nice opportunity and I felt I could make a little contribution. ProSaMe is an organization born from the interest of professionals in the health field, including neurologists, psychologists, pediatricians and psychiatrists. These professionals want a practical interdisciplinary care, research and promotion of Mental Health in children and adolescents in Guatemala.
The logo represents the desire to help these young children. It illustrates the hand of an adult willing to take the little hand to support and assist the youth of our country.

Al diseñar la identidad de una organización o compañía siempre se investiga y se profundiza en lo que estas se especializan y trabajan.

Esta fue una oportunidad muy linda y constructiva que me hizo sentir que aporte mi granito de arena. ProSaMe es una organización que nace del interés de distintos profesionales en el campo de la Salud, entre ellos neurólogos, psicólogos, pediatras y psiquiatras. Quienes desean hacer una práctica interdisciplinaria para la atención, investigación y promoción de la Salud Mental de los niños y jóvenes de Guatemala.

El logotipo representa el deseo de ayudar a éstos niños jóvenes. El grafismo ilustra la mano de un adulto deseoso y dispuesto de tomar la pequeña mano para apoyar y ayudar a los jóvenes de nuestro país.

These cards were designed for a family that decided to give a different meaning to Christmas. They were sent together with a small significant present and inside it was explained that these year instead of buying expensive gifts to everyone they used that money to help children who are fighting a battle against cancer. That is the reason the three wise men were used in the design. Hopefully an example like this will encourage us all to think of ways we can help others and thank each year for the many blessings we receive.

The design is laser cuted on a silver cardboard and inside a cute Christmas message is printed on white linen cardboard.

Estas tarjetas fueron diseñadas para una Familia que decidió darle un significado distinto a la Navidad. Ellos las enviaron junto con un pequeño detalle significativo y en ellas explicaban que en lugar de repartir muchos regalos costosos éste año usaron ese dinero para ayudar a niños que están peleando una batalla contra el cáncer. Por eso se usó a los reyes magos quienes visitaron a el niño Jesús de recién nacido.

Ojala un ejemplo como este nos ayude a todos a pensar en maneras de ayudar a otros y agradecer cada año tantas bendiciones que recibimos.

El diseño esta sobre una cartulina plateada cortada con láser y en el interior cartulina de lino blanco con un lindo mensaje navideño.

Biosafe is a company that supports the green movement because it is engaged in waste Management, sustainable and recyclable materials used in new construction technologies. The concept of the logo was to incorporate the green movement; in a way that is smart and in a quick way to catch that it is a nature friendly company. We work with dark gray representing the construction materials and also because it is associated with security and balance. The green “charmeuse” is associated with nature, freshness and positivism.

Biosafe es una empresa que apoya el movimiento “green” ya que ésta se dedica al waste management, materiales sostenibles y reciclables que se utilizan en las nuevas tecnologías para construcción.
El concepto quiere incorporar el movimiento “green” de una manera astuta y que sea rápido de entender que es una empresa “nature friendly”. Se trabaja con el color gris obscuro que representa los materiales de construcción y que también es asociado con la seguridad y el balance. El verde charmeuse es asociado con lo natural, lo fresco y el positivismo.

December has arrived and with that the last wallpaper of the year. As always I tried to incorporate a little of the fascinating culture of Guatemala into the design. I’ve always been a great admirer and fan of Guatemalan textiles because in them lies the history, art and folklore of my country. Among the variety of colors and illustrations that get integrated in the weaving process you can find the different traditions and beliefs of each Guatemalan town. During this time of the year weavers make special designs for the Christmas festivities and that inspired the design of this wallpaper.

Ha llegado diciembre y con eso el último wallpaper del año. Como siempre traté de incorporar en el diseño un poco de la fascinante cultura de Guatemala. November’s wallpaper is inspired by the giant kites that are made and flown on the 1st of November, in the villages of Santiago and Sumpango in Guatemala. They are made to celebrate the day of the dead. This tradition stems from the need of the living to communicate with their ancestors who have advanced in the road of life. According to Kaqchikel Cosmology kites are messengers between the living and ancestors. These are made months in advance as they can reach up to 10 meters in diameter and are flown at the cemetery on November 1st.

El wallpaper de Noviembre esta inspirado por los barriletes gigantes que se hacen y vuelan el 1ero de noviembre en Santiago y Sumpango Guatemala celebrando el día de los muertos. Esta tradición nace de la necesidad de los vivos de comunicarse con sus ancestros que se han adelantado en el camino de la vida. Según la Cosmología Kaqchikel los barriletes son mensajeros entre vivos y ancestros. Éstos se hacen con meses de anticipación ya que pueden llegar a medir hasta 10 metros de diámetro y se vuelan en el cementerio el 1ero de noviembre.

The design of this wedding was developed thinking about the materials that were going to be used in the wedding reception metals specially gold and silver. This proposal is born with the urge to do something different from what is commonly used in Guatemala, which is only the bride and groom’s surname initials. So I came up with the idea of using both surnames completely and have them blind embossed on a sand metallic color cardstock, which created a very nice and subtle contrast.

El diseño de esta boda ha sido desarrollado pensando en los materiales que iban a ser utilizados en la recepción en especial los metales de oro y plata. Esta propuesta nace con el deseo de hacer algo diferente de lo que comúnmente se utiliza en Guatemala, que es sólo las iniciales del apellido de la novia y del novio. Entonces se me ocurrió la idea de usar los dos apellidos completos los cuales se trabajaron en relieve en una cartulina color arena metalica, que creó un contraste muy agradable y sutil.

The envelope is in an ivory linen cardstock and is lined with the same metallic color only on a lighter paper.

El sobre se trabajo en una cartulina de lino color marfil y se forro con el mismo papel metálico en un gramaje más ligero

Inside the rest of the text is printed on 120 ivory linen paper. The names of the bride and groom are embossed and the rest of the text is printed in a warm gray color ink and finished with thermography.

En el interior, el resto del texto está impreso sobre papel de lino de 120 gramos en color marfil. Los nombres de la novia y el novio están en relieve y el resto del texto fue impreso en una tinta de color gris cálido y terminado con termografía.

For this wedding we work on a modern yet sober and discreet concept. We played with color for the initials and the lining of the envelope. Which, I believe gave a very elegant and chic earthy look to the invitation. We worked on a paper FELT, which has plenty of fiber and creates greater contrast when applying pressure. A modern typeface for the cover and interior.

Para esta boda, se trabajo un concepto moderno, sobrio y muy discreto. Jugamos con el color café en las letras y en el forro del sobre. Lo cual le dió un look muy elegante y chic. Se trabajó sobre un papel FELT, el cual tiene mucha fibra y crea mayor contraste a la hora de colocar presión. Una tipografía moderna tanto para la cáratula com la parte interior.

This invitation was designed for the Baptism of a girl. Her mother has always liked Bees and therefore used as the theme of the Baptism. Beginning with the invitations and all the way to the decoration and cakes. It was printed on a Felt cardboard in three colors, died-cut in the center so the name of the baby will be visible. The envelope also is Felt cardboard. The flowers and the bee are embossed and the text inside is printed in two colors and finished with thermography.

Esta invitación fue diseñada para el bautizo de una niña. Las abejas siempre le han gustado mucho a su mamá y por eso se utilizaron como tema del bautizo. Empezando con las invitaciones y llegando hasta la decoración y los pasteles.

Se imprimió en cartulina felt a 3 colores, con troquel en el centro para que se viera el nombre de la bebé. El sobre también es cartulina felt. Las flores y la abeja estan en relieve y el texto en el interior esta impreso a 2 colores y terminado con termografía.

Bronze Wedding

For this invitation we wanted to create a very elegant but without actually falling into the common invitation. The initials of the bride and groom surnames are embossed on 3D (the square is on one dimension and the initials are on another). I love working with this sand-colored paper, since it contributes much to the design and quality. It was printed with an ink mix in particular to achieve that bronze color (to match the wax the bride had bought to seal the envelopes). The envelope is made with a natural colored linen paper and lined with a cream metallic paper. The inside text is printed with the same color and finished with thermography.

Para esta invitación queríamos crear un concepto muy elegante pero sin llegar a caer en lo usado comunmente. Las iniciales de los apellidos de los novios fueron realzadas en 3D (el recuadro se encuentra en un plano y las iniciales en otro). Me encanta trabajar con éste papel metálico color arena, ya que aporta mucho al diseño y la calidad. Se imprimió con una tinta mezclada especialmente para alcanzar ése color bronce (para hacer juego con la cera que la novia habia comprado para sellar los sobres). El sobre se hizó con un papel de lino en color natual y forrados con un papel metálico color crema. El texto en el interior fue impreso con el mismo color y terminado con termografía.

Flower Power

This invitation was designed for a young girl who was celebrating her "sweet 15". The theme of the party was flower power. So I came up with the idea of using this format to allow the parents of the girl to have control of who got in to the party. At the entrance the small side of the invitation was ripped and the guests could get in.

Esta invitación se diseñó para una celebración de 15 años. El tema de la fiesta era "flower power". Entonces se me ocurrió la idea de utilizar este formato para permitir a los padres de la quinceañera tener control de quién entraba a la fiesta. A la entrada se quitaba el costado de la invitación.

It was a two color job, printed on metalic 220 gram paper finished with thermography and the name of the girl was embossed.

Fue un trabajo impreso a dos colores sobre en papel metálico de 220 gramos terminado con termografía y el nombre de la quinceañera en relieve.

This invitation was designed for a Baby Boy Baptism. The decoration of the reception included sheep and that is why we decided to integrate them in the invitation. It is a one color letterpress printing. The text inside is printed on the same color and finished with thermography.

This invitation was very special for me to design because it was for my brother's wedding. In Guatemala wedding invitations are very traditional, even the use of color other than grey or brown is extremely hard to see. So I tried to go in a very modern yet traditional approach. The wedding decoration was silver purple and green, that's why I chose this color scheme.

Hacer el diseño de esta invitación fue muy especial para mí ya que era la boda de mi hermano. En Guatemala las invitaciones de boda son muy tradicionales, incluso el uso de color (otro que no sea gris o café) es muy difícil de ver. Así que traté de tomar un enfoque muy moderno pero a la vez tradicional. La decoración de la boda era en plateado, morado y verde, por lo cual elegí esta gama de colores.

In Guatemala we do not use ¨save the date¨ cards, but we had several foreign guests, so we needed to send a few. In order to have a good quantity I came up with the idea of having a functional card. The name of the bride and groom were embossed and the information was printed below. The information was printed just for the quantity we needed and we did the rest without the text in order to be used as stationery. So the save the dates accomplished two functions: 1. ¨save the date¨ cards and 2. personal stationery.

En Guatemala no se utlizan los "save the dates" pero ya que teniamos varios invitados extranjeros necesitábamos enviar algunas. Para tener una buena cantidad se me ocurrió la idea de tener una tarjeta funcional. El nombre de la novia y el novio estaban en relieve y la información estaba impresa abajo. La información fue impresa sólo para la cantidad que necesitábamos y el resto se imprimio sin texto, para ser utilizado como papelería personal. Así que los ¨save the dates¨cumplieron dos funciones: 1. ¨save the dates¨ y 2. papelería personal.

For the wedding invitations I sticked to silver and grey. On the front side of the invitation I used the initials of the first last name of the bride and groom. (Guatemalan tradition) I went for a minimalist style yet elegant. The initials were embossed and silver foiled on white linen paper. The text inside was letterpressed in grey while the name of the bride and groom were embossed. The envelope was lined with a metalic texturized paper and the initial were embossed on the back sleeve of the envelope.

Para las invitaciones utilize el plateado y el gris. En la parte frontal de la invitación utilizé las iniciales del primer apellido de la novia y el novio (Tradición guatemalteca). El estilo es minimalista pero ala vez elegante. Las iniciales iban en foil plata y en relieve sobre cartulina de lino blanco. El texto en el interior iba en letterpress gris mientras que el nombre de la novia y el novio estaban en relieve. El sobre estaba forrado con un papel metálico con textura y las iniciales fueron grabadas en la parte posterior del sobre.
